Dense fog is hindering traffic on the "Petrohan" pass, drivers are warning on social networks. Visibility in places has been reduced to 20 meters, which is creating serious difficulties for those traveling on road II-81 between Sofia and Montana.
The weather conditions in the area are extremely unfavorable, and in addition to the fog, rain has made the road surface slippery and dangerous.
Yesterday, due to bad weather and inappropriate speed on the same section, two cars collided head-on. As a result of the accident, a woman was seriously injured. The incident has caused traffic jams in the area.
The danger is further increased by the irresponsible behavior of some drivers, who, despite reduced visibility, continue to make risky overtaking maneuvers on bends. The traffic police remind that in foggy conditions it is mandatory to drive at reduced speed and with increased caution.
Experts advise drivers when driving in fog to turn on the fog lights and dipped headlights, to reduce their speed according to the conditions, to increase the distance to the vehicle in front and to avoid sudden maneuvers. In extremely dense fog, it is recommended to postpone the trip, if possible.
