Mitov: There is already an indictment for smuggling in Plovdiv, there is no chance that the police will take it away - 1

The Minister of the Interior commented on the scandal with the 8 police officers in Plovdiv: "only the pre-trial proceedings can get to the bottom of this story". It is clear that the police have done their job, said Daniel Mitov in "Panorama" on BNT. An indictment has already been filed for the smugglers and the police "there is no chance that they will take it away". There is no such chance, he was categorical.

"As always, parasitic people stick around such cases, who are busy explaining their versions, which are purely politically embellished. And in this way they pollute the information environment with rumors, gossip, gossip and assumptions, which are largely simply untrue. In this case, the police officers in Plovdiv have done their job. The investigation into why exactly one of their superiors decided to send a message to them to return, every new circumstance is being investigated thoroughly," said Interior Minister Daniel Mitov on the "Panorama" program.

Only the prosecutor's office can say whether there was a cover-up, said the Interior Minister. The truth is, he added, that when such cases are investigated, they must be investigated carefully and thoroughly.

"The public hysteria surrounding this case of the institutions that are conducting the pre-trial proceedings, because they de facto brought out, highlighted the fact that there was such a pre-trial proceeding, so that all the people who were supposed to be involved in it were warned that they could be part of such a pre-trial proceeding".

This is the big problem in the case, he commented.

The police officers were not threatened, Mitov said. This was confirmed during the hearing.

Regarding the war on the roads, Mitov commented that determination is constantly being demonstrated. Every such tragedy, similar to the one with Siyana, activates an instinct in society, in which there is an instinct of empathy. To the family of the deceased child, to the child himself, and this is normal, said Mitov. He pointed out that this year, compared to last year, there are much fewer deaths on the roads. There is a need to tighten discipline even more, this opinion was expressed by the Minister of Internal Affairs.

"Every single death on the road is a tragedy and a lost human life. That is why we are taking all necessary measures to be able to increase control. Because after years of weightlessness, using the Ministry of Internal Affairs as a political tool... Harassment of the Ministry of Internal Affairs itself. Illegal arrests. The service is in a state where it needs to be provided with peace of mind and the police need to be confident that the political leadership stands behind the employees who will do their job according to the law.

Traffic safety measures have been "loosened" in recent years, the Minister of the Interior believes. And road discipline is a reflection of this "neglect of the problems". There are many institutions involved in the topic, he added. He was categorical that when the institutions get involved, results can be seen.

On the topic of icons and road safety, he was categorical that the initiative belongs to Boyko Rashkov. He presented the project for approval.

"The iconoclasts in question attacked the Ministry of the Interior with epithets, with insults. They can do this to convince the public that almost half a million would have been spent on icons. And this is not true. And what does it turn out? That a procedure was initiated in their time.

Not a single lev will be spent on "icons", Mitov said.

Regarding the eurozone, the Interior Minister stated that it is a strategic goal of a number of governments. He was categorical that compromises cannot be made with Bulgaria's European future.
