Head of State Rumen Radev held a meeting at "Dondukov" 2 with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Moreihi.
"Bulgaria highly appreciates Qatar's efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Middle East and the contribution to the release of the Galaxy Leader crew. This was stated by President Rumen Radev during a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar Sultan bin Saad Al-Moreihi, who is visiting our country. In the meeting at "Dondukov" 2 also participated in the Qatari Ambassador to Bulgaria, Fahad Al-Mushairi.
The Head of State highly appreciated Qatar's consistent efforts to end hostilities in the Middle East and the subsequent finding of a sustainable peaceful solution through diplomacy. In this regard, Rumen Radev expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the Qatari side and personally to the Emir of Qatar for the release of the crew on board the ship "Galaxy Leader", in which there were two Bulgarian citizens, as well as for the release of two Bulgarian hostages held by Hamas.
This year marks 35 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Bulgaria and Qatar, which is a prerequisite for the two countries to join their efforts to utilize the full potential of bilateral cooperation, was the common position during the conversation.
"For Bulgaria, Qatar is a key partner in the Middle East and our country strives for the bilateral political dialogue to be accompanied by deepening sectoral cooperation and ties between businesses, in order to achieve more concrete results," the president pointed out, emphasizing the significant potential for the implementation of Qatari investments in our country, as well as for the creation of joint productions in a number of spheres.
Among the areas with significant potential for cooperation between Bulgaria and Qatar are energy, economy, high technologies, innovation and education, security, transport and tourism.
