What the government sees and what it doesn't see - 1

What the government sees and what it doesn't see, about the protests, has Ahmed Dogan's sunset come after the court announced that Peevski is the sole leader of the MRF, about the upcoming presidential elections and possible candidacies, but also about what, according to the Bulgarian court, is allowed in journalism and what is not.

The focus was on the editor-in-chief of Mediapool Stoyana Georgieva and political scientist Rosen Stoyanov, NOVA reported.

The MRF case

„Ahmed Dogan lost the party. There are no retired politicians, so it's no wonder he's creating a political project around himself. Whether he will be successful is another question, phrases about ethnic peace can hardly be fulfilled with content now. We need to follow what the messages will be, and what the main voter will be – whether it will be a given ethnicity, or a multi-ethnic party”, Stoyanov believes.

The Anti-Corruption Commission

Georgieva believes that the Anti-Corruption Commission in its current form resembles the special prosecutor's office, which was closed – “ a totally opaque entity that can afford to do everything, without any accountability and control”. She pointed out that every idea proposed by the PP-DB as an attempt at reform is “modulated and crippled”. In her words, the PP imagined that if Boyko Rashkov were to head the CPC, he would be a counterpoint to the Prosecutor General, “but the game turned, they were not allowed”. He added that now the CPC is subordinate to the same people who control the prosecutor's office, the services, etc.

Stoyanov said that a body that should deal with high-level corruption is a requirement under European rules. However, he added that the CPC does not report to anyone and practically duplicates the functions of the prosecutor's office and the State Anti-Corruption Agency.

The Presidential Elections

Stoyanov believes that he may find himself in a "schizophrenic situation" when nominating candidates for president, because "united leftists, who are nominating their candidacy, are at the same time participating in the government with the rightists, who will unite with the right-wing opposition". He believes that a united right-wing candidacy could be proposed if an electable person is identified who is not seen as having a medium-term perspective.

Georgieva believes that Iliyana Yotova is a suitable candidate for the left-wing space if Rumen Radev creates his own party. As for the democratic community, she believes that it will be very difficult to accept a joint candidacy between PP-DB and GERB-SDF, unless it is sufficiently convincing in terms of anti-Kremlin and anti-corruption policies.
