The changes in the Law on Religious Denominations are a misunderstood protection of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church - the Bulgarian Patriarchate, which is very incompetent, downright stupid. This is support and interference, which is very dangerous. This was said by journalist, historian and analyst Goran Blagoev in the program "Metronome" on Radio "Focus".
The decision of the Sofia City Court does not discredit the role of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church in terms of its historical legitimacy and continuity.
"It simply gives another Christian community the opportunity to obtain the right to legal legitimacy. It is becoming a wonderful precedent that will enable other Christian communities to seek their legitimacy. In practical terms, a small religious community, such as the Old Style Church in Bulgaria, cannot pose a threat to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church,“ explained Blagoev.
According to him, the church has a personnel problem. “Because it is not fulfilling its mission – it is not preaching, not missionary, it has not gone out into the streets and squares. The church sits in the temple and says. There are currently 230 fires raging in Bulgaria. Have you seen an Orthodox clergyman, a bishop, a bishop put on his cassock and go to put out fires? They are not among the people. As long as the church relies on the state, this will be the situation,“ said the journalist.
