The battle with the fire continues in many places in the country. Today, two planes from Sweden are expected to join in the fight against the fires, BNT reports. Four helicopters from Europe have already arrived in our country. Slovakia, Hungary, France, the Czech Republic and Romania have joined in with air support. The situation with the fire over Ilindentsi in the Pirin Mountains remains complicated. For the fifth day, firefighters, forest officials, military and volunteers have been fighting the fire. Today, aerial extinguishing will continue due to the difficult terrain and strong winds in the area, which continue to make it difficult for the teams to work. Two planes from Sweden are expected to join in the extinguishing. Nearly 60,000 acres of pastures, dry grass, bushes and forest were consumed by the fire in Sakar.
Yesterday, a new fire broke out near the villages of Ustrem and Srem near Topolovgrad. Firefighters, volunteers, farmers and soldiers with tracked equipment have been on the scene for the third day. Yesterday, 3 helicopters also joined the firefighting effort. The fight against the fire near the Yambol village of Melnitsa continues. Yesterday afternoon, the fire moved from the Haskovo villages of Srem and Ustrem to the Elhovo Municipality. The BG-ALERT system was activated. The flames covered a difficult-to-reach area. Earlier, a helicopter also joined the firefighting effort. Heavy tracked equipment was also sent to the scene to make clearings. 7 firefighting vehicles are also fighting the elements. At the moment, there is no danger to the residents of Melnitsa. Single fires continue to smolder in the neighboring village of Lesovo.
