It's warm because it's summer, because it's August, climatologist Prof. Georgi Rachev announced to bTV in connection with the heatwave since Monday.
Thanks to an anticyclone, slightly colder air has been blowing into Eastern Europe these days. This is due to the cooling - it lowered the maximum temperatures by about 3 degrees compared to yesterday, Prof. Rachev specified.
The climatologist summarized that in general we can expect sunny, warm weather in the afternoon - hot, rainy and terribly dry.
„On August 26 - in two weeks, there will possibly be precipitation, but it will be within 5-6 liters per square meter, which is nothing. This precipitation will have evaporated in an hour, it will not be able to moisten even the surface layer of the soil“, announced Prof. Rachev.
He warned that the mornings will be cooler, because as autumn approaches, the days become shorter.
“The length of the day continues to decrease, today it is 14 hours, and on September 22, when autumn will arrive, it will be 12 hours – the day will become shorter by 3 minutes every day“, explained the climatologist.
It is currently hot all over Europe, even in Berlin the maximum temperatures are 36°, the professor also said.
