New toll function detects the absence of a seat belt - 1

Since mid-July, the National Toll Administration has launched a program of organizational and technical measures for the phased introduction of new functions of the toll system in two directions - increasing the collection rate when paying road tolls and road safety. As a result of the active joint work of the analytical group for processing big data and the "Verification of violations" sector, a new type of process has been introduced in the NTU to effectively counteract attempts to avoid paying road tolls through multiple methods of manipulating the vehicle's registration number. The effectiveness of the measures is indicated by the fact that only for the period 15.07.2025 - 15.08.2025, over 1,500 owners of cars with manipulated registration plates were identified and fines corresponding to the law were imposed. In addition, the process for providing information to the Ministry of Interior for the purposes of establishing violations of the type “Movement in the forced stop lane“ has been developed and improved. The report shows that in the period 18.07-15.08.2025, more than 1600 evidentiary data packages for the violation were submitted.

From 12.08.2025, a new functionality of the toll has been organized, namely - evidentiary records for a new type of violation detected by the toll cameras are also provided to the Ministry of Interior - driving a vehicle without a seat belt, and since the moment of the introduction of this function, 170 evidentiary records have been provided, showing that this “phenomenon“ has not become a thing of the past and this behavior of drivers and passengers continues to put their health and lives on the road at risk.

It is important to note that all these new capabilities of the toll system were achieved by activating and upgrading functionalities that were already available when the system was put into operation, without additional budget costs and in the public interest. The work of the NTU team does not stop there and on the agenda is the control of aggressive driving at short distances, which is one of the reasons for the occurrence of road accidents mainly on motorways and expressways, as well as providing drivers with up-to-date information about travel conditions - weather data and information about the condition of the road surface (dry, wet, icy, snowy). The plan and ambitions of the NTU team are for these functionalities to become a reality in the next few months.
