Georgi Dimitrov from Ruse is another victim of a false positive drug test. His car was hit during a multi-vehicle accident near the town of Levski, for which he was not at fault. All participants in the accident were tested for alcohol and drugs, his sample turned out to be positive for amphetamine, Nova TV reported.
The accident occurred in October last year, and he was traveling in the car with his wife and two daughters. The woman was injured in the accident and was taken to hospital with her eldest child.
„I have never used prohibited substances or alcohol before driving. I had only used a cold spray, and my drug test came back positive. They offered me a blood sample and I agreed. "I should have been arrested, but there was no one to take care of my little daughter," the victim said.
He said he would file a lawsuit against the Ministry of Interior and appealed for the law to be changed because "we all suffer from false positive tests." Dimitrov insisted that more laboratories be opened and that the results be released within a week.
