The aspiration of the capital's “Vasil Levski“ airport to become a 5-star in the region continues with the opening of new lounge area on the territory of Terminal 2. “The competition for the new area was announced in 2025. We received seven offers from seven international airport lounge operators from all over the world. TAV's offer was the best in terms of quality, services, investments and hospitality“, Jesus Caballero, CEO of SOF Connect, told FACTS exclusively for FAKT.
“TAV is a very strong market leader in the hospitality sector. We want to bring this concept here. Our ambition is for Sofia Airport to become “best in class“ in terms of passenger experience – a 5-star experience. They offer this through their “Prime Class“ concept, added Caballero.
The term of the contract between TAV and the airport concessionaire is 10 years. The investment amounts to nearly 1 million EUR. TAV has invested 700,000 EUR, and the remaining 300,000 EUR was provided by SOF Connect.
The plans are to triple the size of the business lounge in 2-3 years. “This is the first phase. We are already working on the second phase to triple the size. In its final version, the lounge will have a total area of over 2,000 sq m. m. Currently, it is 1,000 sq m - 540 sq m of indoor space and 450 sq m of outdoor terrace. When we complete the next phase, we will have over 2,500 sq m. For this purpose, we need a building permit, because we will have separate elevators, a real kitchen, even showers and rest rooms. We are introducing all the requirements for a 5-star business lounge“, Caballero specified.
For business class passengers, the stay in the lounge is free. For those who are in economy – until April 18, the fee is promotional 50 EUR, and after that date it is 60 EUR. Working hours are 24/7.
