Over 400,000 solar panels are placed on balconies in Germany. Only in the first quarter of the current year, 50,000 units were installed. Experts explain this boom with a "very strong solar culture" on the part of the Germans.
"Summer balconies" as a part of the energy transition across Europe, comments Jan Ozenbeg, political advisor at the Solar Rover Euro association.
The difference between balloon solar systems and rooftop solar systems is that the former is a much smaller system. The technology is one or a maximum of two panels that are plugged into an electrical outlet and produce nearly 10% of the energy of the roof systems.
In Germany, there are nearly 200 megawatts of installed solar energy capacity from balconies.
The advantages of solar panels on the balcony for the customer are that the system is much easier to install and maintain. The complexes can be bought online and installed without using the services of an electrician to set them up. Solar rooftop systems are required to be installed by certified professionals to avoid fire and damage risks.
The panels are placed on the mounting structure. They are attached with cables to an inverter, and the electricity comes into the home through a simple plug.
