Electronic filing of deeds for entry in the Property Register - this was agreed upon by the Minister of Justice Georgi Georgiev and the Notarial Chamber. “Electronic filing of deeds is a revolution in the registration process and is part of the measures to combat the property mafia. At the same time, this saves time for notaries, who currently have to submit applications on paper to the Registration Agency (RA) – this definitely makes the process faster, more secure and effective“, said Minister Georgiev. He thanked Luiza Stoeva, President of the Notary Chamber and the Deputy Presidents of the Council of Notaries, for the fruitful cooperation.
The Notary Chamber expressed its readiness to upgrade the electronic system “Unity“, which they use, and to have it connected to the AB and the Property Register. “The first working meeting between the Registry Agency and the Chamber of Notaries has already been held, at which the next steps were determined. It is important for me that the AB is now technically ready to accept electronic applications, while the upgrade of the electronic system of notaries remains“, explained Minister Georgiev.
He explained that the electronic application for registration of property transactions completely eliminates the possibility of an unscrupulous seller selling the same property several times within a few hours, as well as other possible abuses.
The Ministry of Justice will also prepare the necessary regulatory changes for electronic applications. “I count on the cooperation and good dialogue with the Notary Chamber, because the changes we are making are revolutionary and with them we provide additional legal certainty, both for citizens and notaries“, added Georgi Georgiev.
At the meeting with the Notary Chamber, other specific measures to counteract the property mafia were also discussed. “I count on the vigilance of notaries, who in case of suspicion of abuse of the rights and property of citizens, to file signals to law enforcement agencies“, said the Minister of Justice.
