In an operation by officers of the Sofia Directorate of Internal Affairs (SDVR), two people were detained today for stealing jewelry and a car, Nikolay Peltekov, head of the "Crimes related to motor vehicles" sector at the SDVR, told a media briefing, BNR reported.
The two are known to the police, one is 44 years old, nicknamed "Zabcheto", the other - 52 years old, nicknamed "Zmeya", has already been in prison.
On October 2, they stole jewelry from an apartment and a car. Information about the thieves was received and a search for them began. They were found today around 1:00 p.m. and were detained. The car was found with another car's license plates, which had been reported stolen, Peltekov said.
He pointed out that there has been a 48% drop in car thefts in Sofia compared to previous years.
The investigation is ongoing and we expect to find more stolen items from previous crimes, Peltekov said.
