The Mexican Navy has seized a submarine belonging to drug traffickers, carrying 3.5 tons of cocaine worth over $42 million.
This was announced by the Minister of Public Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch in H.
„The Ministry of the Navy has seized a semi-submersible ship off the coast of the state of Guerrero, which had over 3.5 tons of cocaine on board. Three foreign nationals were detained, Harfouch said.
“This seizure is estimated to have caused economic damage to organized crime of over 800 million pesos ($42.5 million at the current exchange rate)“, the minister added.
He noted that since the beginning of October 2024, when the government of President Claudia Sheinbaum took office in Mexico, a total of 44.8 tons of cocaine have been seized in maritime operations.
