A driver of a car with illegal migrants tried to run over border police officers during an operation to detain him near Dragoman. The incident occurred on Friday evening, Nova TV reported.
The operation was carried out after receiving information that the man was involved in migrant trafficking. Initially, the driver pretended to stop, but at the last moment he stepped on the gas and headed towards the border officers. A chase ensued through the streets of Dragoman, after which the car was stopped and the driver detained. He resisted during the arrest. Four illegal migrants from Morocco were found in his car, one of whom was detained on the spot. The other three are to be detained.
"The car was detained in the area of the entrance to the town of Dragoman, including the driver and one of the migrants. The other three managed to escape. When the driver was detained, he resisted and did not follow the police orders of our officers," explained Chief Inspector Radoslav Borisov.
Senior Tactical Police Officer Dimitar Dimitrov said that they had to forcibly remove the driver from the car, together with his colleague. He explained that the driver began to resist violently, even hitting them, and tore their clothes. After a three-minute struggle, the person was detained.
