A team from the "Labor Inspectorate" - Haskovo directorate was attacked with an axe during an inspection of an establishment in Dimitrovgrad. The inspection was carried out on Thursday evening at around 7:30 p.m., BNT reports.

"The colleagues identified themselves and asked to check employment contracts. They were attacked with an axe by a man who introduced himself as the husband of the owner of the establishment," said the director of GIT-Haskovo Kircho Kirev.

The man began to tear up the declarations filled out by the workers and break dishes, Kirev also said. The police had to intervene to complete the inspection. In the meantime, the workers found there were evicted by the owners.

The Inspectorate added that they had previously received reports of work without employment contracts in establishments managed by this owner. We are checking all reports, GIT also said.

The police reported that the man holding the axe was detained for 24 hours. He is 48 years old from the village of Chernogorovo in Dimitrovgrad.
