Cate Blanchett: I would accept a role of a heroine that no one wants, even if I die on page 9 - 1

„ When I first came out of theater school, I wasn't working like many of my peers. But someone who ran one of the biggest casting agencies took a liking to me and asked me to come and be a reader of the people who were auditioning. I couldn't be noticed as an actor. And I looked strange, no one knew what to do with me. So I went three or four times a week and spent a few hours reading, Cate Blanchett told the British magazine HELLO!, quoted by NOVA.

The movie star enjoys working with directors who push her out of her comfort zone. “I'm always grateful to directors who offer you something that surprises you, that maybe they see something in you that you can't see in yourself, and that's why these challenges happen. I think the last huge one for me was working with Todd Field on Tarran. It felt like a mountain that I couldn't even begin to know how to climb, and I was absolutely terrified of it. But for many, many years in the theater, I have learned how to turn fear into excitement," said the Hollywood actress.

Despite her glamorous career on screen, the 55-year-old star's first love - the theater - will always be her greatest passion. “I started in the theater and it is still my one great love because you are so connected to the audience. When you work in the cinema, you are often separated from the audience”, she explained.

Kate prefers to get “interesting“ role than a large one. “You have to find out how much you want this job. Because not every job is worth taking. I would take a job that other people wouldn't see an opportunity in, with a heroine who dies on page nine. They said to me: “ Don't you want a bigger role?”. And I answered: “No, no, no. This is the interesting role," Blanchett pointed out.
