Second dismembered woman found in Istanbul garbage bin - 1

Two men suspected of killing an Uzbek woman and dumping her decapitated body in a garbage bin in Istanbul, Turkey, are suspected of killing a second woman in the same way, Agence France-Presse reported, citing Turkish media.

The two women of Uzbek nationality were killed in the same place on January 23 in the Sisli district. On the evening of January 24, police found the decapitated body of Durdona Khakimova, who was 37 years old. The body was wrapped in a sheet and thrown into a garbage bin in Sisli. The woman's legs had also been cut off.

After reviewing security cameras, police detained two people, who are also Uzbek. They were caught at the Istanbul airport, shortly before boarding a plane.

Investigators say the men also killed their compatriot Sayora Ergashalieva, who was 32 years old. Investigators found her body parts in several buckets in the city.

Sayora arrived in Turkey on December 28 and was last seen with her family on January 23. Investigators have determined that she lived in the same house as the other victim. The two women lived together with the alleged killers for nearly a month, with Sayora having an affair with one of them.

Video footage shows Sayora entering the same house with the two suspects and then leaving the building the next day with several garbage bags. The men then took a white suitcase out of the house, took a taxi to the Fatih district, emptied the contents of the suitcase into a bucket, and then went to the Yenikapı metro station.

During interrogation, the two men said they had killed Sayora with a cold weapon on January 23 and dismembered her body.

The murder of the first Uzbek woman sparked outrage from feminist organizations in the country, which organized marches in Istanbul and Ankara to demand justice for the victims of such violence.

According to the organization "Stop Feminicides", in 2025, men killed 294 women in Turkey, and 297 women were found dead under suspicious circumstances.
