Vazov and his songs…?!

Yes, today is indeed the 174th anniversary of the birth of one of the greatest Bulgarians – People's poet Ivan Vazov!

And as they write in the newspaper "24 Hours" newspaper, “The celebration PASSES also under the sign of the round anniversary of the first independent Bulgarian edition of the novel “Under the Yoke”, published in 1894 by the publishing house “ T. F. Chipev – 130 years“, the National Literary Museum notes on its website“.

It is no accident that I focus my attention on the word PASSING, because not only I, but also most Bulgarians, regardless of their age, were brought up in sincere love and adoration for the genius of this unique and unique Bulgarian artist. Personally, I would not like the anniversary of Ivan Vazov, somehow along with other important and not so important events in our country, in Europe and in the world, to PASS…

Vazov cannot pass! It should be celebrated solemnly! On this day, like today, fanfare should ring and the People should spontaneously bow their heads to the memory of their Poet!

At the invitation of the National Literary Museum today, in the capital, from 11:00 a.m., a modest celebration took place in front of the monument to Ivan Vazov, on the street “G. S. Rakovski“, near the Orthodox church “Sveta Sofia“.

Yes, there were about 30-40 people, headed by Mr. Atanas Kapralov – director of the National Literary Museum. The leadership of the Union of Bulgarian Writers was also there, led by its chairman, the poet Dr. Boyan Angelov. The presence of Prof. Irena Peteva, Rector of the University of Library Science and Information Technologies, as well as representatives of BNT and BTV, and two or three photojournalists from other media and … and?

Ah, yes – there were wreaths from the Metropolitan Municipality and the Minister of Culture, which of course is commendable.

Why didn't I see representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science, the Presidency, the National Assembly, the National Theater “Ivan Vazov”, the National Library “St. St. Cyril and Methodius", of the Metropolitan Library, of the "St. Kliment Ohridski“, of the alternative writers' unions, of Bulgarian writers who received high international awards…

No, I am not short-sighted not to see them. They were simply absent! I doubt that they didn't receive invitations, but I don't think that to celebrate Ivan Vazov, someone should go only if they are specifically invited. I am of the opinion that every Bulgarian should carry Vazov and his songs in his heart".
