Max Verstappen with "Red Bull", a four-time world champion, won the Azerbaijan Formula Grand Prix - 1:33:26.408 hours, BTA reports. The Dutchman started from first position and leads until the end of the street track in Baku. Thus, Verstappen recorded his second consecutive success after the one on the "Monza" track. George Russell finished second with "Mercedes" at 14.609 seconds, and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Spain) with "Williams" was third at 19.199. For "Williams" this is the first podium since 2021.
Championship leader Oscar Piastre crashed out after crashing on the first lap. The "McLaren" driver started at the start and immediately stopped, with everyone else passing him as he tried to move off. But after returning to the track, Piastre failed to take turn 5 and hit the barriers.
In the general classification seven rounds before the end of the season, Piastre remains the leader with 324 points, Norris is second with 299, and Verstappen has 255. The next race on the calendar is the Singapore Grand Prix on October 5.
