The U-17 national team started with a 1:1 draw in the European qualifiers

The youth national team of Bulgaria U-17 started with a 1:1 draw against their peers from Azerbaijan in Group B2 of the European qualifiers.

The match was played at the "Hristo Botev" stadium in Plovdiv.

In the other match, which was played at the "Nikola Shterev-Starika" Sports Complex, Lithuania defeated Malta 3:1.

The Bulgarians entered the match better, as their active play yielded a result after a little over half an hour. Timur Mustafa headed the ball into the Azerbaijani goal.

Seven minutes later, however, the guests were given the right to take a penalty. The ball hit Viktor Beikov's hand during a shot by Ali Bashirov and the referee pointed to the penalty spot. It was Bashirov who took the penalty kick and converted it to equalize the score – 1:1.

In their next match from Group B2 of the qualifiers, Svetoslav Petrov's team will face Malta. The match will be held on March 27 (Friday) at 3:00 PM again at the "Hristo Botev" stadium.
