Defending champion Aryna Sabalenka will face American Coco Gauff in the final of the WTA 1000 tennis tournament in Miami, BTA reports. The match will be the 13th between the two, with the balance completely even – six wins for each. In 2025, they have already met three times in trophy matches, and in their last clash, Sabalenka prevailed in the group stage of the WTA Finals in November.
„Coco is a fighter and a great tennis player. We have played many contested matches and important finals. I am really excited that we will meet again in a title fight. I expect a great fight“, Sabalenka told the AP.
The Belarusian tennis player also highlighted her opponent's strengths: “Against Coco you always have to play one more ball because she returns almost everything. Even when it's not perfect, she stays in the game and drags you into long points. That's what makes her such a difficult opponent.“
