Black Sea head coach Ilian Iliev received his award for the best coach in the First League for last season. The national coach was awarded by the vice-president of the Association of Bulgarian Footballers (ABF) and member of the BFS Executive Committee Mila Hristova at halftime of the match between the "sailors" and CSKA 1948, which ended 0:0 at the "Ticha" stadium.
The specialist won the 23rd edition of the “Footballer of Footballers” survey, remaining without competition in the “best coach” section. He overtook the title winner with Ludogorets Georgi Dermendzhiev and Botev Plovdiv coach Dushan Kerkez, who finished second and third respectively.
The ABF poll is the only one of its kind in our country, because all football players from the First League and Second League - Bulgarians and foreigners - vote in it.
Ilian Iliev earned the prestigious award for the fourth time, after being number 1 for the 2009/2010 season as coach of Beroe and the 2018/2019 and 2022/2023 seasons at the head of Black Sea.
