China's Jiayu Yang won the Olympic title 20 kilometers of sport walking in Paris, BTA reported.
London 2017 world champion Jan finished in 1:25.54. The 28-year-old Chinese woman took the lead after the fifth kilometer and allowed herself to be passed by the end.
World champion Maria Perez from Spain finished second at 25 seconds. Thus, she secured the silver, after missing the podium in fourth place at the previous Olympics in Tokyo.
World runner-up Jemima Montag (Australia), who set a continental record with 1:26.25 hours, won the bronze. Montag was sixth at the Games in the Japanese capital.
Tokyo 2020 defending champion Antonella Palmisano (Italy) was running tenth but retired after the 13th kilometer.
The silver medalist from the Games in the Japanese capital, Lorena Arenas (Colombia), this time got away with the distinction. She clocked a national record of 1:27:03, but finished fourth.
