The Bulgarian relay team consisting of Blagoy Todev, Vladimir Iliev, Anton Sinapov and Konstantin Vassilev had a very strong race and finished in 11th place in the Biathlon World Cup competition in the Austrian center of Hochfilzen, BTA reports.
The nationals took one penalty lap and used 11 additional cartridges, finishing 4:39 minutes behind the winners from France.
The Bulgarians moved excellently, especially in the first half of the race, with Blagoy Todev handing over eighth place to Vladimir Iliev, and Iliev giving fifth to Anton Sinapov. However, Sinapov allowed a penalty lap in his standing shooting, which returned Bulgaria to 13th place. At the last post, however, 21-year-old Konstantin Vassilev performed excellently and overtook the representatives of Switzerland and Belgium.
The winners from France - Fabien Claude, Quentin Fillon-Mayet, Eric Perrot and Emilien Jacquelin, finished the 4x7.5 kilometer distance in 1:23.43 hours. The "Roosters" used ten additional cartridges, but did not make a penalty lap. One was made at the last post by the team of Norway (Sturla Holm Lagrade, Tare Bø, Johannes Tingnes Bø, Vebjørn Sørum), who remained second. The "Vikings" finished 49 seconds behind France with one penalty lap and eight additional cartridges.
The relay team of Sweden (Victor Brand, Jesper Nelin, Martin Ponsilvaoma, Sebastian Samuelsson) finished in third place. The Swedes also took a penalty lap and with 14 extra rounds finished 1:59.2 minutes behind France. Slovenia, Germany and the USA completed the top six.
Earlier today, Bulgaria's women's relay team finished in 14th place in Hochfilzen.
