Red Star, where Bulgarian national guard Cody Miller-McIntyre plays, suffered a shocking defeat and was eliminated in the semi-final phase of the Serbian championship, sportal.bg reported.
The Belgrade giants lost 77:93 away to Spartak Subotica and ended their participation in the competition after 0-2 in the series.
In the first match, Red Star lost 81:93 as a host.
Miller-McIntyre also missed game #2, as he continues to recover from an injury. Other absentees from the Zvezda lineup were Mike Daum, Dejan Davidovic and Joel Bolomboy, which reduced the Belgrade team's lineup to 10 players.
Luka Cerovina scored 24 points for Spartak Subotica, Dusan Miletic had 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Stefan Momirov added 20 points and 11 rebounds. Ognien Dobrich and Filip Petrushev scored 17 and 15 points for Red Star, respectively.
Spartak Subotica took the first quarter with 24:12, and with a score of 61:53 in the third, made a run of 20:6 and decided the game in their favor.
Thus, the season of the team led by Yannis Sferopoulos turned into a huge disappointment, after the team failed to find a place in the Euroleague playoffs earlier in the season, and was also stopped by Buducnost in the semifinals of the Adriatic League, in which Red Star's great rival - Partizan triumphed. However, Miller-McIntyre and company have taken home one trophy this season, having triumphed in the Serbian Cup ("Korac") after a dramatic 89:83 overtime win over Partizan in the final.
In the other semi-final in the Serbian championship, Partizan and FMP Beograd are rivals. The score in the series is 1-0 for Partizan.
