And BAIC has introduced fast-charging and frost-resistant batteries - 1

The automotive world is in a frantic search for the “Holy Grail“ of batteries, trying to escape the trap of expensive lithium. The goal is clear: cheaper electric cars, longer range and lightning-fast charging that does not give in to the winter cold. In this technological race, the giant BAIC has just pulled out a hidden trump card, presenting a prototype of a sodium-ion battery that promises to put an end to “winter“ for electric vehicle owners.

Imagine this: an energy density of about 170 Wh/kg and the ability to fully charge in just an incredible 11 minutes. This means that by the time you have a cup of coffee, your car is ready to go. But the real furor comes from temperature resistance – The new development operates smoothly in the brutal range of -40°C to +60°C. Moreover, even at freezing -20°C, the cells retain over 92% of their capacity, which is downright revolutionary for the industry.

To prove that it's not just about dry numbers, BAIC put the technology to a real test through stress tests. The results are shockingly good - the battery withstands recharging up to 200% without turning into a torch, and retains stability at temperatures up to 200°C. Safety is clearly not a compromise here, but a fundamental pillar in the design.

The Chinese manufacturer is now on the final stretch, integrating this innovation into its flexible Aurora Battery platform. With over 20 patents filed and full readiness for mass production of prismatic cells, BAIC is not just experimenting, it is dictating the rules. From the specific electrolytes to the cell architecture itself - everything is the result of our own development, which could soon make traditional batteries a boring memory of the past.
