Experts from the most authoritative automotive publication "Za Rulem" conducted a survey of car manufacturers regarding their oil change recommendations in manual and automatic transmissions.
At the same time, experts note that gearboxes work in more difficult conditions than engines, because they heat up only from the frictional forces in them and cool down worse in the heat. Dust and moisture also penetrate the boxes.
For these reasons, they recommend changing the oil in a mechanical gearbox on a new car after one year or after 10,000 km, and then every 30,000 – 40,000 km or once in 3 – 4 years.
In this way, you will halve the wear and tear on manual transmissions. As for automatic gearboxes, the recommendation is to change the oil in them every 60,000 km or once every six years.
