Ukraine will soon start using hundreds of anti-drone systems in response to massive Russian drone attacks, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmygal said, quoted by DPA and BTA.
At a joint press conference with his Polish counterpart Wladyslaw Koszyniak-Kamysz in Kiev, Shmygal said that when Russia launches up to 800 drones overnight, as it has done before, Ukraine will have to respond with no less than 1,000 interceptor drones.
He noted that Ukraine will reach that level, but admitted that he could not specify when exactly it would be in able to use such a number of drones. Shmygal stressed that the main challenge is not production capacity, but controlling anti-drones from the ground.
Russian forces have repeatedly sent large swarms of drones against Ukraine, sometimes jamming its air defense systems.
The Polish defense minister arrived in Kiev yesterday for talks with his Ukrainian counterpart and other senior Ukrainian officials, one of the topics being Ukraine's experience in combating drones during wartime.
