The world welcomes Trump's plan for Gaza, Hamas's response is awaited - 1

Many countries around the world, led by Arab and Muslim countries, welcomed yesterday the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, notes Agence France-Presse, quoted by BTA.

Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Turkey, Indonesia and Pakistan said in a joint statement that they welcome "the role of the US president and his sincere efforts to end the war in Gaza". They confirmed their "willingness to work in a positive and constructive manner with the US and the parties concerned to finalise the agreement and ensure its implementation".

French President Emmanuel Macron also welcomed Donald Trump's desire "to end the war in Gaza and achieve the release of all hostages". In a statement to Ex, Macron called on Israel "to engage decisively on this basis. Hamas has no choice but to immediately release all hostages and follow this plan".

EU Council President Antonio Costa called on all parties "to seize this moment to give peace a real chance".

"The situation in Gaza is intolerable. "The military action must stop and all hostages must be released immediately," he stressed in "Ex".

For his part, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadeful said that "finally, Israelis and Palestinians can hope that this war will soon end."

"This opportunity must not be missed. Hamas must seize it. I call on all those who can influence Hamas to do so immediately," he added.

The government of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also mentioned "an ambitious project for the stabilization, reconstruction and development of the Gaza Strip," describing it as a potential turning point. Rome called on "all parties to seize this opportunity and accept the plan."

London "strongly supports" the peace plan presented by US President Donald Trump to end the war in the Gaza Strip, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said. "We strongly support his efforts to end the fighting, release the hostages and ensure the provision of urgent humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza. This is our absolute priority and must be done immediately," Starmer wrote.

Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair, who is expected to play a major role in the Gaza transition committee, welcomed the plan as "bold and intelligent." The plan "gives us the best chance to end two years of war," he added.

The Palestinian Authority welcomed the "sincere and determined efforts" of Donald Trump and said that it "believes in his ability to find a path to peace".

On the other hand, "Islamic Jihad" condemned the plan in a statement, defining it as "a recipe for aggression" against the Palestinians.

"What was announced at the press conference between Trump and Netanyahu is an American-Israeli agreement and represents the position of the entire Israeli elite. This is a recipe for continuing aggression against the Palestinian people," the Islamist movement said.

Many Gazans do not believe that "Hamas" will accept the proposal, AFP notes, citing opinions expressed by residents of the Palestinian enclave.
