Munich International Airport strongly recommends that airlines consider canceling flights within the next 4 hours. A source from the airport's control center reported this to TASS.
“Due to the reduced capacity of the airport, airlines are strongly advised to consider canceling flights“, the agency's source said, without specifying what the reduced capacity means or what specifically caused it. He noted that this recommendation has been communicated to all airspace users and is in effect for the next four hours – from 18:00 UTC to 21:59 UTC.
It was previously reported that Munich Airport was once again closed on October 3rd due to the sighting of several drones. This affected 6,500 passengers who were stranded at the airport overnight on Saturday. Operations were only resumed this morning. This was the second such incident in the past few days. On the evening of October 2nd, flights from Munich Airport were suspended due to the detection of several unidentified drones.
German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrind said that the Bundeswehr should participate in the fight against drones by providing assistance. Until now, this has been done by the federal and state police. The head of the German Interior Ministry noted that he intends to submit a draft new law on aviation security soon.
