Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) welcomed the ceasefire deal between Israel and “Hamas“ in Gaza, praised the role of US President Donald Trump and the mediators and expressed hope that the agreement would lead to alleviation of the suffering of the Palestinians, restoration of security and stability and a just and comprehensive peace based on a two-state solution, DPA reported, citing statements from the two Arab countries, BTA writes.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said he hoped that “this agreement would represent a first step towards a permanent ceasefire and an end to the humanitarian suffering“ of the people of Gaza.
He also expressed hope that "Israel will respond to the calls of Arab and foreign leaders to stop its aggressive policies in Palestine, Lebanon and Syria, to create a positive atmosphere to work for a just, comprehensive and lasting peace that achieves stability in the Middle East," the official Lebanese National News Agency (NNA) reported.
Arab League Secretary-General Ahmed Aboul Gheit called the deal "good news" for the people of Gaza after two years of "bloodshed and widespread destruction."
