The Ukrainian military reported that this morning Russian forces launched two ballistic missiles at the territory of one of the training units of the Land Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The location was not specified, but according to official information, the attack was carried out in a "rear and relatively calm part of the country".
According to the Operational Command "South", despite the security measures taken - including early notification and the withdrawal of personnel to shelters - it was impossible to avoid casualties. Rescue teams are working on the scene, there are wounded servicemen.
The Ukrainian publication NV.ua reports that Iskander missiles were used in the strike and that one of them fell directly into the shelter area. The publication recalls that similar attacks on training centers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have happened before - most recently in August, when deaths and injuries were reported.
So far, the Ukrainian military has not revealed the exact location of today's strike. They emphasize that the attack on a rear base is intended to show that Russia can hit targets deep inside the country and that no Ukrainian region is beyond the reach of Russian missiles.
