The tests of the "Burevestnik" missile will in no way adversely affect relations between Moscow and Washington, because they are already minimized, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said at a briefing today, quoted by TASS, BTA reported.
"So far, there are only timid attempts to bring these relations" from their current state, Peskov said.
The General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin that the tests of the "Burevestnik" missile, which is powered by nuclear energy, have been completed. The weapon has a high degree of autonomy and can fly low over long distances, which reduces its vulnerability to air defense systems, TASS notes.
In response to US President Donald Trump's statement that Putin should end the war in Ukraine, rather than test new missiles, the Kremlin said that Russia was acting guided by its own national interests, Reuters reported.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said that Russia had notified the US in advance about the Burevestnik tests.
