Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said, quoted by Russian media, that the US notified Russia in advance before today's launch of an intercontinental ballistic missile “Minuteman 3“ capable of carrying a nuclear charge, Reuters reported.

“Of course, these are such missiles that are subject to launch identification – we are talking about the international identification system. We also warn when we carry out such launches“, said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS.

The US organized a scheduled test of a missile “Minuteman 3“ today without a nuclear warhead from the US Pacific missile range “Ronald Reagan“, located near the Kwajalein Atoll, part of the Marshall Islands, reported the Russian news agency Interfax. The command to launch the missile was given from the “Vandenberg“ military base in the US state of California. The flight was about 6,800 km.

“The Minuteman 3, which has a range of 12,000 km, is the only US intercontinental ballistic missile with a silo base in the US strategic nuclear forces. The US currently has 400 such missiles, Interfax notes.
