The legal recognition of Crimea and Donbas as Russian territories should become the subject of negotiations between Moscow and Washington, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today, commenting to journalists on the point in the US peace plan, which provides only for the factual recognition of these territories as part of Russia, TASS reported, BTA reported.
“This should be the subject of negotiations with the American side”, Putin pointed out. “This is one of the key moments”, he added.
According to the plan, the content of which was published in the media, the US and other countries undertake to recognize Russia's sovereignty over Crimea, Donbas and other territories that Ukraine must give up. In exchange for this, the Ukrainian side will receive American and European security guarantees. In the areas from which the Ukrainian troops, a demilitarized zone is planned to be created.
The American portal “Axios“, citing a representative of the administration of President Donald Trump, claims that the line of contact between the parties to the conflict in the Kherson and Zaporizhia regions will be frozen, and Russia will have to return some areas to Ukraine.
