An energy facility in Odessa region was set on fire last night after a Russian drone attack, Ukrainian authorities announced on Wednesday. No one was injured in the incident, but damage was caused to energy infrastructure and residential buildings in the area, News.bg reports.
According to the head of the regional military administration, Oleg Kiper, the region was subjected to a massive attack with “Shahed“ drones, targeting civilian and energy facilities. The fire in the hit facility was extinguished in a short time, but the strike caused serious power outages.
The energy company DTEK confirmed that its facility was damaged in the attack. About 8,000 households were switched to backup power, and approximately 36,000 customers were temporarily left without power.
According to the Ukrainian Air Force, Russia launched a total of 62 drones on Tuesday evening. As of 8:30 a.m., Ukrainian air defenses had destroyed or neutralized 39 of them. 20 hits were recorded in eight different areas, and the attacks are ongoing.
