Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke by phone with French President Emmanuel Macron, and during the conversation the two exchanged views on relations between Turkey and France, the war in Ukraine, as well as a number of regional and global issues. This was announced this morning by the Turkish Presidency's Communications Directorate via its profile on the social network Ex, BTA reports.

According to official information, the conversation was initiated by President Macron. During it, Erdogan emphasized that the development of cooperation between Ankara and Paris is essential and stressed that the Turkish side will continue to take concrete steps to deepen it.

The Turkish president also stated that his country is making every possible effort to achieve a just and sustainable peace between Ukraine and Russia. He informed Macron that active contacts are being maintained with the parties with the aim of resuming the negotiation process in Istanbul and stressed that Turkey is ready to cooperate in all possible ways to accelerate the path to peace.

During the conversation, the two leaders also discussed the current situation in the Caucasus, the Gaza Strip and Syria.
