US authorities have arrested a man suspected of planting homemade bombs in Washington on the night before the storming of the Capitol on January 6, 2021, Reuters reported, BTA reported.
The FBI had been looking for the perpetrator for years. For the purposes of the search, investigators released security camera footage and announced a reward of $ 500,000 for his capture, receiving hundreds of tips from citizens.
Authorities believe that the suspect is connected to the events surrounding the storming of the Capitol almost five years ago.
The released videos from January 5, 2021, show a person placing homemade pipe bombs near a bench in front of the Democratic National Committee building, as well as at the Republican Party headquarters, located in close proximity to the Capitol.
The suspect was detained in the state of Virginia.
