It seems that everyone is "waiting for America to cool down" on the Greenland issue. This was stated by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during the World Economic Forum, which is being held in Davos, Switzerland, quoted by the BBC.

According to him, the world community has turned its attention to Greenland, adding that "it is clear" that most leaders are still not sure what to do.

Zelensky thanked Europe for freezing Russian assets, but criticized that "when the time comes" to use the assets to help defend Ukraine, the decision was "blocked".

The Ukrainian president stressed that "there has been "no real progress" on the establishment of a tribunal for Russian aggression against Ukraine despite "many meetings". He asked whether it was a matter of "time or political will".

Regarding a possible ceasefire in his country, Zelensky noted that he had not yet reached an agreement with the US on a safeguard mechanism, which he believes is necessary.

"Why can President Trump stop tankers from the hidden flotilla and seize oil when Europe does not?", he asked, adding that oil transported along European shores is used to finance Russia in its war against Ukraine. "If Putin has no money, there will be no war for Europe", Volodymyr Zelensky pointed out.

The Ukrainian leader suggested that Europe should have its own armed forces instead of relying on NATO, as "no one has seen the alliance in action". NATO exists "thanks to the belief that the United States will intervene. But what if it doesn't intervene?", he asked, stressing that Europe "must defend itself".

Zelensky asked what message this sends to Putin, to China, and added that sending 40 soldiers to defend Greenland would not change anything. Ukraine has the means to defend Greenland, Zelensky said. "We know how to fight there. We would have solved the problem if we were in NATO, but we are not", he said.

Zelensky criticized the failure of Europe and the United States to stop the sale of missile components to Russia. "Europe says nothing, America says almost nothing, and Putin makes missiles", he commented.

In Europe, he said, there are "endless internal disputes" that prevent honest conversation about finding solutions. "Instead of becoming a true global power, Europe remains a beautiful but fragmented kaleidoscope of small and medium powers", he added.

Volodymyr Zelensky stressed that President Trump "will not change". "Some European leaders are from Europe, but not for Europe", he stressed, adding that some Europeans are "really strong" but "always need someone else to tell them how long they should stay strong".

According to him, Europe would never have agreed to allocate 2 percent of its GDP to defense if Trump had not become US president again.

Regarding today's meeting with Donald Trump, Zelensky said that documents aimed at ending the war between Ukraine and Russia were "almost ready". He added that Russia should be ready to "put an end to this aggression".

Zelensky hoped that the United States would continue to support Ukraine and called for a strong Europe, adding that the continent needs an independent Ukraine that could one day come to the defense of others. "We are ready to be part of a Europe that really matters".

Concluding his speech, Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine needs "actions" because that is where "world order" comes from.
