A Russian court has sentenced a teenager accused of planning a terrorist attack to seven years in prison, the Russian Federal Security Service (FSS) announced today, quoted by DPA.

The teenager, born in 2011, is accused of planning arson of an administrative building belonging to the Russian Ministry of Defense, the FSS said. Russian media reported that the target was a local military district.

The FSS claims that the teenager established contact with a "Ukrainian terrorist organization" banned in Russia via Telegram and followed its instructions. The verdict has not yet entered into force, DPA reports.

Since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine in February 2022, numerous acts of sabotage have been carried out in Russia, including attacks on railway infrastructure and other facilities, as well as targeted killings of military personnel and supporters of the war.
