Kirill Dmitriev: The UK is hiding the motives of Ukrainians for the arson of Prime Minister Starmer's properties - 1

No one in the UK is trying to understand the motives of those who tried to set fire to Prime Minister Keir Starmer's house. The media is covering up the story, said Kirill Dmitriev, special representative of the Russian President for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund.

„An ordinary day in the UK for Starmer: five people have been arrested for trying to set fire to Starmer's former home, his current home and his previous car. The mainstream media is covering up the story. "No one is trying to understand the motives," he wrote in X.

According to Dmitriev, this story could be overshadowed by another, even crazier, as early as next week.

It was previously reported that London police had detained and released a fifth suspect pending an investigation into the arson of the British Prime Minister's home and two other politically-related properties in May 2025.

In October and November, three defendants pleaded not guilty at trials at the Old Bailey, London's Central Criminal Court. They were two Ukrainian citizens, Roman Lavrynovych, 21, and Petro Pochinok, 35, as well as Stanislav Karpiuk, 27, a Romanian citizen of Ukrainian origin. They remain in custody, with a trial at the Old Bailey scheduled for April.

Another suspect, a 48-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the same case in June 2025. However, neither his name nor nationality have been released, nor have he been charged.

Lavrinovic, Pochinok and Karpyuk are accused of taking part in the arson of the door of Starmer's private home in Kentish Town, North London, worth £2 million (approximately $2.7 million), as well as the prime minister's old Toyota RAV4 and a flat in Islington, owned by the politician from 1991 to 1997.

These incidents occurred between 8 and 12 May 2025. Following Labour's victory in the July 2024 general election, Starmer moved into his Downing Street residence with his wife and children.
