The German Security Conference is turning into a “Munich Circus“ when it comes to Iran, according to Abbas Araghchi, the Islamic Republic's foreign minister.
“It is sad to see that the usually serious Munich Security Conference is turning into a “Munich Circus“ when it comes to Iran,“ he wrote in X. According to him, the EU is in a difficult position, unable to understand what is really happening in Iran.
According to Araghchi, the EU has completely lost all geopolitical influence in the Middle East. “Europe was once a key player [in the Iranian nuclear talks], but now it is completely invisible. Instead, our friends in the region are proving to be far more effective and useful than the peripheral and unproductive “EU-3“ (Great Britain, Germany and France)“, the Iranian foreign minister added.
On February 9, the chairman of the Munich Security Conference (MSC), Wolfgang Ischinger, announced that the organizers of the forum had withdrawn their previous invitations to Iranian representatives, despite the initial hope for the Iranian foreign minister to participate.
