Iran has no intention of negotiating with the US and is ready for a long war, the chief advisor to the slain supreme leader Ali Khamenei said today, quoted by Agence France-Presse, BTA reported.
"We do not trust the Americans and we have no basis for negotiations with them. We can continue the war as long as we want", assured Mohammad Moqbar on Iranian state television on the fifth day of the war in the Middle East.
An explosion shook the northeastern part of Tehran earlier today, Agence France-Presse reported, citing its journalist who was on the ground.
Today is the fifth day of strikes carried out by Israel and the US. Iran is responding by carrying out its own strikes on targets linked to these countries in the Middle East, AFP reports.
Iranian state television confirmed the explosion without giving details. A cloud of smoke rose above the area of the explosion, and at 11:15 a.m. (09:45 Bulgarian time) the sounds of military aircraft passing by were heard.
Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said that any potential successor to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei would be a "target", doomed to be eliminated, reported Agence France-Presse.
"Any leader chosen by the Iranian terrorist regime will be an unequivocal target for elimination," Katz said.
"The Prime Minister (Benjamin Netanyahu - ed.) and I have personally ordered the armed forces to prepare to act with all means to carry out this mission," he added.
According to one Iranian and three foreign media outlets, the second son of the late Ali Khamenei has already been chosen as Supreme Leader of Iran Khamenei - Mojtaba.
