Russia calls report that it shares drone technology with Iran fake news - 1

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that a report in the “Wall Street Journal” claiming that Russia is sharing satellite imagery and advanced drone technology with Iran is “fake news“, Reuters reported, BTA reported.

Russia is expanding intelligence sharing and military cooperation with Iran, providing satellite imagery and advanced drone technology to support Tehran's attacks on US forces in the region, the newspaper wrote yesterday, citing informed sources.

“As you know, there are currently many different reports circulating about this war. "Most of it is nothing more than disinformation, so we don't consider it necessary to comment on each of them individually," Peskov said at a press conference.

"However, American officials have made statements on the subject, while they themselves said they had no information on the matter," he added.

In an excerpt from an interview with CNN aired on Saturday, Zelensky said it was a "certain fact" that Iran had used Russian-made "Shahed" drones in attacks on American bases.

At the press conference, Peskov also said that the Kremlin condemned the "assassination" of Iranian leaders in the US-Israeli attacks today - a day after Iran's semi-official Fars news agency confirmed the assassination of the head of Iran's security forces and a former senior adviser to the late Iranian leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei - Ali Larijani - in Tehran.

“We categorically condemn any actions aimed at harming the health or even killing or eliminating members of the government of a sovereign and independent state like Iran, as well as other countries. We condemn such actions“, Peskov told reporters in response to a question about Russia's position on Larijani's death.

Russia, which built and helps run Iran's only nuclear power plant, has sharply criticized the US-Israeli air strikes on Iran – Russia's close partner - and called for a quick ceasefire and negotiations, the agency notes.

Russia has not received any indications from Europe of a readiness to discuss energy supplies with Moscow after Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered the government to consider diverting the remaining Russian oil and gas flows from Europe, the Kremlin said today, quoted by Reuters.

Dmitry Peskov also said that Putin remained open to the idea of negotiations, no matter how difficult the topic.

The Kremlin spokesman said that energy markets had suffered a number of blows because of the war in Iran and that Moscow was seriously considering the theoretical possibility of exiting European energy markets.
