In the Shadow of Iran: US-Ukraine Talks End in Florida - 1

Ukrainian and American delegations have concluded the second day of talks in Florida to find ways to end the four-year war with Russia, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, quoted by Reuters and BNR.

Russian representatives did not attend the talks, which began in Florida on Saturday. They were initially expected to attend the talks, which were to be held in Abu Dhabi.

The American team was led by special envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, President Donald Trump's son-in-law.

"It is clear that the attention of the American side is currently focused primarily on the situation around Iran and the wider Middle East region, but Russia's war against Ukraine must also be stopped," Zelensky said in his evening video address.

"There are indications that additional prisoner exchanges may take place, which would indeed be very good news and confirmation that diplomacy is working. We hope this will happen," he added.

Zelensky did not specify whether the talks would continue, when or where they could be held, or in what format they would be.

US envoy Steve Witkoff reported progress in talks with Ukraine to end the war started by Russia, a goal that President Donald Trump promised to achieve when he took office 14 months ago, Agence France-Presse reported.

The two-day talks in Florida focused on "further overcoming differences and resolving remaining issues, and included a breakthrough on a key humanitarian issue," he wrote on the social platform "X"
