Russia and Hungary are unlikely to establish close relations under the rule of the new Hungarian Prime Minister and leader of the TISA party Peter Magyar, but Moscow hopes for a pragmatic approach from Budapest. This was stated by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, quoted by TASS, reports BTA.
According to him, despite various public statements, relations between the two countries are unlikely to acquire the character of close friendship. Peskov noted that in politics there is a difference between election messages and real governance, when more pragmatic solutions are required.
He added that Peter Magyar has already declared his readiness for dialogue with Russian President Vladimir Putin, expressing hope that when taking up a government post, the approach will be more practical and balanced.
Reuters also notes that the Kremlin views positively the signals of Magyar's desire to maintain a pragmatic dialogue with Russia, despite the political differences between the two countries.
