More than ten thousand US military sailors, marines and airmen, more than a dozen warships and dozens of aircraft are carrying out the mission of blocking ships entering and leaving Iranian ports, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said, quoted by Reuters, writes BTA.
In the first 24 hours, not a single ship managed to pass through the blockade, and six merchant ships complied with the instructions of the US forces, the statement added.
The imposed restrictive measures apply to vessels from all countries entering or leaving Iranian ports and coastal areas areas.
U.S. forces support freedom of navigation for ships transiting the Strait of Hormuz or not sailing to or from Iranian ports, CENTCOM said.
