US President Donald Trump has again criticized Italy for its refusal to support military action against Iran, ANSA reported, BTA reported.
"Italy was not there for us and we will not be there for it", Trump wrote on the social network Truth Social. He also shared an article by the British newspaper "The Guardian" with information about Rome's refusal to allow the use of an air base in Sicily by American aircraft.
The tension between the two countries also increased after Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni described Trump's statements against Pope Leo XIV as "unacceptable". The American president had previously criticized the pontiff, describing him as "weak" on crime and "failed" in foreign policy.
