Russian President Vladimir Putin said in an official video address that servicemen from the Chechen Republic in the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone are defending the sovereignty, independence, and legitimate interests of Russia. The occasion for his statement was the 75th anniversary of the birth of the republic's first president, Akhmat-Hadzhi Kadyrov.
